Those who love the plush, floral berry depth of Malbec will not be disappointed by this Malbec grown in Rusden’s own Vine Vale Vineyard. This sandy and red clayed soil in Barossa Valley lends beautiful perfume and depth to grapes grown here. Matured for 18 months in French oak barrels.

WINEMAKER

Christian Canute

Having grown up on the vineyard among a family of vignerons and Barossa folk, it was probably in Christian’s blood to end up in the industry in one form or another. Nowadays, Christian has over 25 years of winemaking experience including international exposure and stints at some of the most highly regarded wineries in the nation. In 1997 he made the decision to take on the wine making responsibilities for the family business and has continued to make wines of the highest caliber. As a true Vigneron, Christian believes great wines start in the vineyard and spends a great deal of time nurturing the old vines.
Married to Amy, together they have raised four beautiful children, Cadell, Amalia, Louis and Grace.

WINERY

Rusden

Rusden Wines is a family-owned winery nestled in Vine Vale, at the heart of South Australia's Barossa Valley. Established in 1979 by Dennis and Christine Canute, the estate spans 40 acres of deep white sand over red clay soils, a terroir that imparts elegance and aromatic complexity to their wines. Embracing a hands-on approach, Rusden grows, vinifies, bottles, and sells all their wines on-site, ensuring each bottle authentically reflects the character of their vineyard. Their portfolio features traditional Barossa varietals such as Shiraz, Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon, alongside unique offerings like Chenin Blanc, Malbec, and Zinfandel.

Under the stewardship of winemaker Christian Canute, Rusden Wines continues its legacy of crafting expressive, fruit-driven wines that balance power with finesse. The winery's cellar door, known as "The Den," offers visitors a warm and rustic setting to experience their range of wines, complemented by locally sourced produce platters. With a commitment to traditional winemaking methods and a deep respect for their land, Rusden Wines embodies the spirit of Barossa Valley's rich viticultural heritage.
